All this and it’s less than 15 min drive ( Google it) to Orinda or downtown Oakland so you can enjoy life on both sides of the tunnel!

Many of us who have lived in Oakland for a long time continue to be amazed at this special place on earth!

If you’re seeking a unique spot in a spectacular setting , my new listing is a  magical 3+bed /2 bath home is situated on over half an acre of terraced gardens, and includes an exceptional detached artist studio with half bath above a 2 car garage.

There was no way we were going to neutralize this home into a sea of grey for sale!
Instead the owner and stager “curated” the  wonderful selection of tasteful and artistic treasures to showcase the home and possibilities for the detached studio!

Local Realtors know neighborhoods and then they also know desirable “pockets”  between the more well defined areas.

This Cape Cod style home is located in one of those popular little pockets on one of two parallel predominantly level streets with sidewalks and an almost cul-de sac location.

Sidewalks make for easy dog walking,  spotting the neighbors you haven’t seen for a few weeks and hanging out chatting while the kids cycle and skate up and down the block!

With a local grocery store, several restaurants , the trail head to  regional parks , an easy commute and Montclair Schools zoning it’s easy to see why this location has a strong following!
5053 Kearney EXT movie start

Built for one of two sisters who wanted East Coast style homes a few doors from each other, this home was lovingly maintained by the original owner for many years. Updated and expanded with the addition of a guest suite or home office, the second owners are now moving on!

Around the corner is trail head access and  a quick climb up to the top of the hill to Look out Point in Joaquin Miller Park.

Wow, it was Christmas when I first saw my most recent listing in wonderful Crocker Highlands!

Clarendon Xmas

A lot has happened since then! Tenants moving out , multiple contractor bids and discussions about what work to do and what to leave for the next owners. There is ALWAYS more one can do when selling a house!

This is an exceptional large stately 1913 home and everything is on a grand scale including the fuse panel!!
Very nicely labeled I might add!

The fruits of our labor:  Crocker Highlands in the spring, and it is quite beautiful with trees leafing out and birds singing away.

Newer homes in Oakland are almost non existent with the exception being the post fire rebuilds of the early 1990s , a few higher end custom homes and occasional urban infill.

One spot where there is more contemporary development is in the Old Leona Quarry.
My new listing is one of the rare re sales, a stunning light and bright unit with extra high ceiling and lovely bay outlooks!  There is plenty of fascinating history behind the development, and some beautiful nature walks close by!

Below is an article on the initial development of Oakland’s Leona Quarry.

Some homes really stay in your memory for one reason or another! When I mentioned to other agents that I was listing a wonderful jewel of a home on Barner place, several responded

” Ooh I love that house! ” “Super cul de sac!”

That’s always music to the ears!

My sellers had looked a long time when they purchased the home, and I recall being so impressed with the attention to detail and the quality workmanship. This time around, the stager commented on how the home is exceptionally well proportioned, with higher ceilings and a very gracious presence for a smaller home.

Technically it’s a 3/2 , the third bedroom was converted to a really practical den with beautiful built ins.The updated eat-in kitchen is a chef’s dream and the bathrooms are gorgeous with irridecsent mosaic tiled.
Lincoln Heights is one of those less well known neighborhoods in the Oakland hills. It’s a super spot, many streets have views and it’s minutes from the Montclair and Dimond shopping districts and commute options.

Added bonuses are the Mocking birds who have staked their territory on the cul de sac. They have been singing away as the house was prepared for sale and the glorious roses are in bloom!

When new buyers ask about areas of Oakland many do not know about the Upper Oakmore, or Oakmore Highlands as it was originally named. My eyes always light up when talking about this lovely part of Oakland!

To start with the terrain is gorgeous, rolling hills studded with mature Oaks, and then there are the stunning Bay views as you crest the top of some streets and swoop down others.

All this and a wonderful selection of vintage homes, some estate size with large parcels of land. It’s perfect neighborhood walking (just hug the roadside on the curves) and there are flights of public steps and access to the Sausal Creek trail when you need a shady spot!

My new listing  at 2008 Bywood Drive is a lovely warm home with beautiful light and superb outlooks from all the rooms. The location feels exceptionally private with little intrusion from the neighboring homes.

Just minutes from both Montclair Village and the Glenview shopping districts, and  close to great schools and commute access. The neighborhood community is an active one with listserve and a legendary turnout for Halloween trick or treating!

Below is some text from the original developers marketing!

The Oakmore Homes Association is an intriguing resource, to visit click here!

~from the marketing materials of the Walter H. Leimert Company, c. 1926.
“Here is the natural beauty of the wooded hill slope, the sunny plateau, the pleasant glen. Below is the City of Oakland spread out fan-like, and to the west, the glorious panorama of San Francisco Bay . And yet, there is no sacrifice of convenience. Particular care has been taken in the plotting of the property. The lots have been apportioned more on the basis of beauty than upon the arbitrary basis of so many square feet constituting a homesite. In every instance, the homesite’s have been apportioned in conformity with the contours of the property and the natural features. It is in this new residential park that the elements of a desirable homesite find superior and practical expression.”
